Please introduce yourself.
My name is Joe, I play drums for Eye of the Destroyer.
When your band was created?
The band formed on Halloween of 2013.
What the style do you play?
We are a death metal band.
How could you describe your music by several words?
Aggressive, fast paced, in your face slamming death metal.
What is the main theme of your lyrics?
Our lyrics paint a nightmarish hellscape reminiscent of early exploit films, 80’s horror and American grindhouse cinema.
What would you like to achieve with the band activity?
We are currently playing shows in support of our new ep , “Ezekiel 16:21”. We are in pre production for another record that we are going to tour off of. We would like to have a consistent touring schedule as well as label distribution by October of 2015.
How many gigs you have played so far and maybe you visit another countries with concerts?
In the first six months of playing shows we played 14. We have been to five different states in the US and would love the opportunity to play in another country.
Is there anything very important about your band what SHOULD know fans and labels?
Our band is a culmination of years of hard work. We record and produce all of our own music. We finance all of our own merchandise. We book all of our own shows. We are completely self sufficiant in every aspect and totally DIY.
What the formats you would like to see your releases, CD, Vinyl, Tape…? And how do you see future of physical releases?
We have two records out right now. Both were pressed to CD format in limited quantities. We think the future of the physical release lies solely in the Vinyl realm. This day and age if your going to spend money on music it needs to be something tangible. The artwork and overall quality of a vinyl release is something to be cherished.
When you will get label deal, would you like to help to the label with promotion from your side, or you want label do all without your help?
We will never stop promoting our band. When a label picks us up we will only work harder to get our music to as many people as possible. In order to be successful you have to take matters into your own hands and make people aware of what your doing.
What’s your reaction towards negative opinions about your music?
Any opinon about our music is a good opinion. We learn a lot from what people like and dislike about our music. It helps us to shape our product and alerts us to what is and isnt working.
And last question, how do you like our webzine, do you have some remarks towards its look or functionality?
We find your webzine to be very informative. We love the opportunity you are giving to unsigned bands like us. It is awesome to help out bands and give them an outlet to promote their music. The web design is clean and easy to navigate.
The members of Eye of the Destroyer were originally inspired by death metal bands like Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Gorerotted, Exhumed, Skinless, and Deicide, as well as thrash bands such as Slayer and Pantera. Drawing heavily from horror fiction, horror films, and religion their album artwork is sacrilegious, blasphemous and controversial.
