IGNOMINIA “Falsa Divinidad”

In Spain and first of all Latin America there’re a lot of cities with name Santiago. That’s why they all have in official names added “de…” or some continuation. This time we’ll come to the biggest one – Santiago de Chile. There live more than seven millions of people. It has very interesting and rich history and so on and so on… City has many to offer on every field we can only imagine. But can it be otherwise if it’s capitol of the richest country of whole continent?!? Also as about music in Santiago happens a lot, surely also on Metal scene. In 2003 was born IGNOMINIA on the remains of HAUNTED CHRISTIANS. I know nothing about this second band. Well, except the fact that it was alive between 2000 and 2002. Anyway during these 13 years when IGNOMINIA exists really many musicians replaced each other. Now in the band play only three guys: Andrés Valdés (guit), Marco Gajardo (voc, guit) and Pablo Valdés (bass). These two first ones played in HOUNTED CHRISTIANS, by the way. About drums took care Fernando Mardones, but he’s not, as I know, member of the band. Well, as I know they finally found some drummer after releasing the stuff, by the way.

“Falsa Divinidad” is only third stuff in history of the band. Well, if we’ll take a look how often line-up changed than… Anyway, to be honest it’s quite hard for me to write this review. The reason is that I distribute this stuff and it means that I can be not as objective as I should – at least in your eyes. Hopefully I’ll convince you that you’re wrong in this point! Anyway, is it possible to be totally objective in any case?!? In my opinion: not at all. OK, let’s leave these philosophical problems and let’s talk about music!!!

Stuff is released on CD and called EP. Well, I know that for real orthodoxies EP was, is and always will be only vinyl record. But times are changing, so… Besides vinyl or CD records are only mediums, it’s just a matter of technic. However, “Falsa…” contains Intro and four songs. Intro is a little twisted and noisy. It’s good that it doesn’t take longer time coz my teeth would go on the walk… hahahahahaha… By the way, music which we have here is purebred Death Metal played in rather American style. But in the same time some riffs connotes to me strongly with some Polish very well-known band – especially when we’re talking about guitars. Riffs are mostly quick, uncomplicated (but not so easy to play as someone could suppose). They also mostly run forward in rather fast tempos. That’s for sure that we have here some of them which give a little, let’s call it quite turgid, melody.

Fernando plays in various ways. You can hear both in these faster and slower parts that this guy knows what playing drums in Death Metal band means. Besides everybody who has at least sketchy idea about this knows that he’s any green horn in Metal “business”! I know that there’re better in technic meaning drummer even in Santiago, but… Marco’s vocal is also typical Death Metal growling what means also that it’s understandable. Of course for someone who listen carefully and want to understand what vocalist has to message us. Anyway, as you know, for me word “typical” has positive connotations. Death Metal is Death Metal!!!
