SAINTORMENT “Well of Sins”

There came time for some band from eastern part of Europe. That’s why we’ll move to Daugavpils (known also under the names Dyneburg, Dzwinsk, Dynauhburh, Daugpilis, Väinann and few other ones – depends on language)  in Latvia right now. In this second largest city of Latvia where live something like 100.000 people there’re really many things to see. Anyway, anybody should be surprised that especially old town with its monuments looks like a German city – it was just Germans who found and administrated the city more than 700 years. But we’ll don’t pay some special attention on this at the moment. For us the most important is that in the city exist some Metal bands!

One of them has how so beautiful name SAINTORMENT and was found not so long time ago – in 2013. On their first shows they played covers of METALLICA, KRATOR, PANTERA, EXODUS, etc. In the same time guys worked on their own stuff. At the moment I just listen to effect of this work. The same as in case of DIAGNOSIS guys didn’t play in demos, but decided to release full-length as their first stuff ever. Well, the fact is that we had to wait something like two tears for first SAINTORMENT’s proof of life. To ne honest it was worth to wait so long – at least in my opinion.

Album contains ten compositions of, as we can very easily guess from list of covered bands, classic and of course old-school Thrash Metal. YEAH, it’s enough to take a look on their pics to get to know that they’re with souls deep in 90’s and even 80’s. We have here everything what should enclose real album in this type of Metal –aggression, melody, technic… Actually songs are very melodic. But it’s not in meaning of some sweet candles or some other shit like that! They just have potential to become Metal hits which we’ll sing during taking shower, shaving… Guys call their music as Thrash Metal, but sometimes, well… very often, I have impression that I listen to some Heavy or even Power Metal band. It’s about riffs, first of all. They’re rather roomy. We have of course rather often some solo, which often become to more technical playing. It doesn’t take long time, anyway, But it’s also about Roman’s Maxim’s (who play here as Wolf) and even Dan’s backing vocals have such character. The fact is that it’s in Thrash Metal convention (especially during stanzes), but… What I connote the most with Thrash Metal is way in which play drums. I can easily hear Ed’s fascination of giants of this instrument, giants who all in our Metal world know very much. Well, we not only know these drummers very well, but also adore them. We all know how much they did for Metal and that without them Metal wouldn’t be what it is today!

By the way, fuck the terms! In my opinion it absolutely doesn’t matter if there’s more elements of Heavy, Thrash, Speed or whatever here! Everyone who thinks that is Metalhead should have this album! That’s right, it’s nothing discovering here, I heard a lot of demos, albums… like that in my life. But it doesn’t change the fact that I adore “Well of Sins”! Document with links to the band unfortunately didn’t want to cooperate with me, but you’ll surely find them on FB, Bandcamp…
