I want to make something perfectly clear in this review. Antimessiah / Totale Vernichtung is a true gift that has been graced upon this world. His immaculate vocal structure, alongside his very distinctively addictive music is a blessing, gifted unto the black metal community. About thirty hours in when I had first listened to this demo, had I realized then that I had listened to Die pechschwarze Artillerie for that long… non-stop, straight… it is seriously that addictive! When I truly love an album so much, it shows deeply through how often I will listen to it. This is one of those albums. Drums pulsate intensely throughout, on every single song. It’s with such strong, constrained force… a force that you can feel all inside you. A feeling of true, ultimate intensified energy! Antimessiah… a man that is a fucking, frenzied powerhouse of unbridled, intense fury! Just… Goddamn!

“Atomtruppen” is what starts off this heavy-weighted, epic demo. It harbors quite nicely that ‘classic’ black metal sound throughout. Furious rhythmic riffs drive through with an intensified, insistent scream; while the drums have an intense sharpness to it, with an ardent and unforgettable beat! The drumming hits with full-force, nary a break throughout the demos’ entirety. The production’s a bit more refined and on point, on this demo. Very clean and precise, but still unmistakably that one-of-a-kind ‘Totale Vernichtung’ sound. There’s not another band on this earth period, that even remotely comes close to sounding like this guy’s music does; as it’s absolute, pure bliss! Now, usually I would not mention production values on a review, but it’s very noticeable on this release. And, with the refinement on this one, I feel that I must mention it.

With very distinct, reverberation, “Die pechschwarze Artillerie” just may be my favorite track on this demo. Captivating, melodic riffing assertively pulls you into its core, all while delivering an earth-shattering, prominent ‘punch’ that hits you so hard. Antimessiah goes all out on this one, bringing forth two massively intensive, elongated screams that you just easily fall right into. That brash, yet silky smooth scream hits once at (01:39), and then again at (05:22)… and, I just absolutely melt like butter… as I find myself in an emotional state of torment. Not only is it Antimessiah‘s voice, and screams that really get to me on this one, but the music as well… I fall heavily into a deep, soul-stirring state that almost crushes the life out of me, with its enticing lure and authoritative fury! When I listen to this song, I never want it to end.

Fast drumming, scorched, blatant riffs start off “Die unbesiegbare Luftwaffe”, with intense scream-reverberant vocals striking at the forefront. And, I highly emphasize that word “intense”. The intensity levels are so forced that you can actually ‘feel’ that given effect. Antimessiah… his voice is very affecting, and pristine… always on par, never wavering. And, on this song, his voice shines so bright, like an aura surrounding it. That drum beat keeps a fairly steady pulse at times, but then delves into maddening, lightning speed! The echoing effect on this track gives off an epically harrowing vibe, which is so dark and distant. And, this ‘effect’ is astounding! The atmosphere alone on this is just awe-inspiringly beautiful!

Die pechschwarze Artillerie pretty much as a whole, as I’ve indicated already with a couple of tracks, emanates with rich, reverberating vocals. The atmosphere is so lustrous and vibrant. The drumming pretty much keeps a constant pace throughout. Thoroughly a masterful, solid effort. This demo is genuinely one of the best, if not the best that I have ever had the utmost pleasure of listening to! In obvious droves, I might add.

You know, I’ve come to realize something, that the more I listen to Totale Vernichtung, no matter the album (or song), I can honestly say that I love Totale Vernichtung‘s music more, and more; with every single day that passes by.
