stormwolf [800]Stormwolf “Swordwind”

And again Italian band! And again good one! I like Italy more and more with each received band out of there, this year I’ll travel to Italy, so I’m sure I’ll meet with some great bands!
Well, now we talking about Stormwolf, comes from Ligury, and about their very first album, which I got recently. First of all, musicians did awesome release, CD comes as digipak, standard digipak but wrapped into A5 fold-out slipcase, very very pleasant to handle such one! But, of course artwork etc is just additional to Music thing, and even some luxurous packages contains shitty and poor music, but, luckily, this is not about Stormwolf! Stormwolf is female fronted heavy metal band, and their music sounds very interesting. First of all, musicians mixed both heavy metal together with some hard-rock tunes, i.e. you’ll be pleased by sharp and catching heaby metal rhythms, which are changed by some rock stuff ala AC/DC or Van Hallen, and then by some ala Satriani parts! And this doesn’t sounds like some rough mixture, but like really reach and prefessional stuff. All musicians did more than decent job on this record, good massive drumming, fat bass lines, really impressive guitar works, both rhythm-section and deeply freezing and catching melodic guitar solos here and there. For those who still crying “female vocals are not for metal at all!” – go fuck yourself, often male vocals are more than poor shit, and with Stormwolf, Elena Ventura have enough good vocals, which doesn’t sounds poor, and of course not like some brilliant, but GOOD.
All in all – very good heavy metal album, inspired by heavy and rock classics and played on very decent level. Also positive thing – their music doesn’t sounds ala modern metal, with this point this is next positive thing (for me personally). Thus if you like massive, catching, melodic heavy metal with female voice and bright guitar solos – “Swordwind” is a highly recommended album for you! Plus do not miss nice surprise! – the last song – “All We Are” – DORO cover; sounds good and a bit fresh!
70/100
