Didn’t know this band before. Still don’t, really. Just hit play, sat there, and let this thing run its mouth. It starts slow, doesn’t ask for your attention, just builds this feeling like something’s coming, but not fast. It’s not clean, not showy. Sounds like people making noise that means something to them, and you’re just there trying to keep up.
I kept waiting for the big moment to show off, but it never really comes. That’s kind of the point. Everything feels stretched out, kinda uncomfortable sometimes. Vocals come in – half yelling, clean, half drowning in whatever’s going on underneath. Not catchy. Not trying to be. It feels lived-in, like the songs have been around longer than the band has.
There’s stuff going on in the background – keys maybe, or layers of noise – that creep up on you after a while. Guitars aren’t trying to shred, just kind of dragging themselves forward, looping back, collapsing in spots. Feels somewhere between black metal and some old weird prog thing, but too dirty to be either properly. I couldn’t tell you where one track ends and the next begins. Didn’t want to skip anything either. It’s one of those albums that doesn’t care if you’re into it. It just keeps going, like it’s already decided what it is.
I didn’t mean it as a bad review. It’s just not a typical album. It’s rough, kind of slow to open up, but there’s something real in it. Not trying to impress – more like it just does its own thing. That’s why I liked it. Solid 4 for me!
Enjoy the album!
