Norwegian melodic death metal act, Sublime Eyes, is back with an astonishing new album called IV: The Serpent’s Coil, released via Wormholedeath Records.
I caught up with Jan, the band’s guitarist, who discussed the new album, working with Wormholedeath Records again, and more.

Welcome to Antichrist, Jan! A new album in which I definitely got to express my opinion about the sound, first of all. IV: The Serpent’s Coil has a heavier sound than previous releases. Can you confirm this?
Hi, there Carla! Thank you very much for the warm welcome! Yes, absolutely! The music is heavier and darker on this album, but at the same time it’s also more melodic and cinematic. More complex songwriting.

In approaching the sound and writing process for this album, how did you manage this time?
The songs kind of just developed over time. We did a lot of demoing and pre-production. Just trying out different things

„IV”- does it have a connection, or better said, a continuation of the previous 3 releases, from a thematic point of view?
There are maybe similar subjects on songs on previous albums, like the subject of war, but not any direct connections.

The album features some guests. Can you tell us who they are?
It sure does! We got Hallgeir from Purified In Blood to do some brutally awesome guest vocals on „Wrath From The Sky” and „Serpent’s Coil”. Ole from Einherjer shredded some guitar on the title track, and Kjetil from In Vain did some tasty leads on the track „Inferno Begins”.

So far, what’s been the feedback of the new album from the media and the fans?
So far, the feedback and reception of the album have been great from both fans and the media.

After 10 years, you re-signed with Wormholedeath Records. The label is nothing new to you. You had released your second album, Sermons & Blindfolds through them back in 2015. How is it to be part of WHD again?
That’s right! It’s been great working with WHD again. Even better this time around. Such easy-going people to work with.

What made you sign and give Wormholedeah a new try?
Kind words, and a good offer hehe. Our friends in Evig Natt are also signed to WHD and had good things to say about them.

Evig Natt is a great band too! What about touring in order to promote this new album? Any plans?
At the moment, we are booking concerts for 2026, so the plan is to bring the album on the road. If anyone wants to book us, hit us up!

It would be amazing to catch you live and meet you guys someday, somewhere!
Absolutely! Let’s make it happen!

To end this interview Jan, is there anything else you would like to add?
We would like to thank all the fine folks who support our music, and we hope they will continue to support us. Our new album IV: The Serpent’s Coil is out on all streaming platforms and available on vinyl and CD!
