MARDUK ‘FRONTSCHWEIN TOUR PART 3’, LIVE AT ELYON CLUB IN ROZZANO (MI), 16/10/2015
After the ‘religiuos’ phase, Marduk regain a top place in the Black Metal rankings with a comeback to the war sound; ‘Frontschwein’, released in january, was a masterpiece, claimed by critic and audience. The live activity of the swedish combo is like always tireless and this is even the third part of the ‘Frontschwein’ tour.
The first date in Italy (Rome), was cancelled due to the tour bus issue, fortunately the problem was fixed and the band came regularly at the Elyon Club in Rozzano, near Milan.
The support band are the french Svart Crown, that play a mix of black and death metal: the group works hard but the sounds are not clear and the songs are too long and complicated to engage the crowd.
After a small delay, the four piece come to the stage, exciting a one hundred of metal fan already pace up. The beginning is for the new ‘Frontschwein’ and the incredible mid tempo of ‘The Blond Beast’. The sound is powerful but a little bit mixed, anyway the impact is like always brutal.
The playlist touches ultraclassic songs like ‘Slay The Nazarene’, ‘502’, Burn my coffin’, the relatively new ‘The Levelling Dust’ and ‘In the Mouth of Madness’, but there are little surprises like ‘Cloven Hoof’ from ‘World Funeral’ and ‘Womb of Perishableness’ from ‘Rom 5:12’.
The closing comes with the legendary ‘The Black…’ before the unavoidable mess of ‘Panzer Division Marduk’ that demolish the club and drives crazy the crowd.
Morgan – praised many times by the fans – is the usual giant, the young new drummer Fredrik Widigs is a war machine and Mortuus is constantly improving his stage presence, even if his scream sometimes disappear.
In the end a great concert for a band that after 23 years of activity is not tired to bring destruction all over the world.
