Review: Imha Tarikat “Sternenberster” [Prophecy Productions / Lupus Lounge]

Imha Tarikat is Turkish for set of destruction. That is the right description of the second record from the black metal duo from Germany. There is a lot of aggression channeled in the songs.
The music on “Sternenberster” can be described as classic second wave Norwegian style black metal with a slight touch of 90s German black metal in the vein of Agathodaimon or Mystic Circle. The richness of the musical work is absolutely great. This leads me to one negative point, the very harsh sound production. I think a cleaner and much more defined sound would be much better to enjoy the melancholic melodies. Nevertheless this record creates a very dark ambience. What stands out is the title track. “Sternenberster” with its mix between brutality and slow rhythm is the fine highlight of the record.

All in all “Sternenberster” is that kind of black metal that will give a trve fan of the genre hours of pleasure.
