Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine popped into the backstage area at the UK’s Download Festival to chat about Black Sabbath, the difference between European and US festivals, the new album Dystopia and the death of former drummer Nick Menza.

When asked about how Black Sabbath influenced Mustaine he responded: “Black Sabbath were one of the bands that I first heard when started listening to heavy metal. A friend of mine was a huge Sabbath fan and he would listen to it all the time. I was so immersed in that music real early in my life that it became a way of life for us. The record that I gravitated towards most was Never Say Die. That was a record that I took ownership in because it basically came out in the timeframe that I was a fan. I love never say die, we’ve done it live. It’s a great record.”
