THE ORDER OF ISRAFEL

THE ORDER OF ISRAFEL “Red Robes”
Napalm records

Gothenburg (in Swedish: Goteborg) is second-largest city ibn Sweden. There’re surely many interesting monuments, history is rich and so on. For us, Metalheads, this city means also extremely a lot. I’ll mention only one term: “Gothenburg’s playing”.

Well, it concern to Death Metal and THE ORDER OF ISRAFEL’s music is impossible to classify like that. Well, guys also don’t call their music by this term and even don’t try doing it. They use other word on “D” instead of that. Anyway, band is rather young one (created in 2012), but there it has at least one member who’s experienced musician – Tom Sutton (guit. voc.) who played in Japanese CHURCH OF MISERY. As it’s written in their bio Tom and Patrik Andersson Wimberg (bass) was in letters’ touch while some time. They dreamed up about playing together. Finally Tom decided to relocate to Sweden. Tom’s and Patrik’s planed long time band became fact! Soon Hans Lilja (bass) and Staffan Björck (guit.) joined them. By the way, they still play in the same line-up.

“Red Robes” is their second full-length on which they worked (it was the same with their debut, by the way) two years. Album contains 8 long compositions keeping in slow tempos. At least mostly, coz sometimes guys a little speed up for a while. Anyway, even if we can have some doubts from time to time music which T.O.O.I. presents is surely Doom Metal. I have some impression that they’re influenced, sometimes even strongly, by other Swedish band from Stockholm which exists with some breaks since 1982. But maybe some English Gods of this genre should be mentioned –these who recorded such albums as for example “Shades of God”, “Icon” or “Draconian Times” (I don’t mention earlier releases especially coz they’re in other climate –we can say old school Doom Metal). Music has all attributes to call it Doom Metal – right climate created by high pitched guitars and waltz tempos, first of all. It doesn’t mean that guys play monotonous and without invention, that nothing interesting from technical point of view happens here! We even can (and should) risk statement that it’s contrary. The fact is that riffs aren’t complicated. But thanks to this that there’re two guitars we can listen even to some solos and in background typical and trotting out riffs. Effect is very interesting and in the same time doesn’t let us to forget with which genre of Metal we have to do. YES, we can hear that it’s Metal from first to last chord and it doesn’t matter that music is calm, Tom sings with clean deep voice.

What else?!? Well, if you like such climates just do what you should do to get this album in your hands!
