The Black Dahlia Murder official statement:

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Trevor Scott Strnad. Beloved son, brother, and Shepard of good times, he was loved by all that met him. A walking encyclopedia of all things music. He was a hugger, a writer, and truly one of the world’s greatest entertainers. His lyrics provided the world with stories and spells and horror and whimsy. It was his life to be your show.

Trevor Strnad, born on May 3rd, 1981 in the United States, the vocalist of The Black Dahlia Murder, is easily recognized by his voice (growls, grunts, screams etc.) and his shifting between them. Strnad has his presence noted on live performances often. Usually, he points his finger at people as they sing along, and fiddles with his fingers in the air, giving even a non-metal music fan, chills. Also, recognizable by his haunting lyrics, Trevor writes them, being inspired by horror movies/books, real-life crimes or murders. Strnad has a big number of tattoos, and as a Carcass fan, he has tools of the trade (From the Tools Of The Trade EP of Carcass) on his lower arm. Also, he has a pentagram tattooed on his hand. There is a big change in his vocals through time. It is very notable, that since the first EP of TBDM (What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse demo in 2001) to the new TBDM’s Everblack (2013) that his vocal style changed.
