INFANT DEATH “Violent Rites”
Apocalyptic Empire Records

Trondheim is the third largest city in Norway. Something like 190.00 people live there what maybe isn’t some stupefying number, but as on Norwegian and enen more Scandinavian conditions it’s really huge city! By the way, Trondheim has long (was found in 997 by Viking king Olav Tryggvason) and interesting history. It has also very big meaning for whole country if we say about industry, but also education, sport or culture! So that’s natural that also on Metal map of Norway city plays one of the main roles.

One of the youngest (but surely not the youngest!) bands over there is INFANT DEATH which was found in 2012. There play three guys: BT (bass), Kim Kane (dr) and Knegge (guit, voc). Two last ones are rather busy coz they also play in other bands. Anyway, it doesn’t disturb to be very productive in I. D. During four years of existence they released two demos, EP, three albums (counting with “Violent Rites”) and participated in split and compilation!

Guys call created by themselves music by Black/Thrash Metal, but at least on “Violent…” these two words should be upside down in my opinion. I hear here first of all Thrash Metal. The fact is that it’s a little faster than “typical” Thrash Metal. The fact is also that Knegge’s way of singing can be connoted more with Black (this very old-school one) than Thrash. But it’s still Thrash Metal. Everything tells it us, from structure of songs to sharp, aggressive riffs and characteristic beating of drums. From time to time we have also something what we can call by guitar solos – also they say us that we definitely have to do with Thrash Metal.

As I said above tempos are fast and it’s rather changeless. It doesn’t of course mean that we’re condemned on listening to some mindless using of instruments with motto “as faster as better!” Especially that I used word “rather” what means that tempos sometimes and mostly for short time change. Riffs aren’t complicated and mostly changeless, too. Of course I’m speaking at the moment about these faster parts where guys in uncompromising way go forward. Kim plays drums in very energetic way. In the same time it’s as variable as music’s common character enables for it. By the way, last song, “False Prophesies” reminds me verrrry much some song of some very well-known band. Which?!? Listen to it and you’ll get to know which band I’m talking about!

In general I have to tell you that when I saw number of releases which band produced I afraid that I’ll have to listen to some bigger or less crap. But I was nicely surprised. The same wish all of you!!!
