Thrash maniacs Municipal Waste return with their latest release The Last Rager EP and as we have come to expect from them, it’s packed full of slamming riffs and speed laden rhythms. The band don’t really stray from what they’re best known for and, indeed, best of and that’s why they very rarely put a foot wrong and when it comes to high octane, crossover thrash metal, very few do it as good as the Waste!

Wave Of Death kicks things and would definitely be a great opening song when the band hit the road again. With its snappy Megadeth-esque riffs and solos, the song speeds along quickly, gaining momentum as every second goes by. This song also has a definite hardcore feel to it and you can imagine chaos in the pit of it was played and gets the Rager off to a great start.

Car-Nivore (Street Meat) follows and you can just imagine the stage diving insanity that would go on if this track becomes a staple of their formidable live set, it is the sound of a proper Municipal Waste anthem and the New York crossover legends whose name the track pays tribute to, would be proud to have this track attached to their name for sure.

Rum For Your Life is a fun thrasher that will have your head banging throughout and contains a ripping solo courtesy of Ryan Waste.

The EP finishes in fine style with the title track and sees the band take a whirlwind approach to concluding, and sounding all the heavier for doing so.

The Last Rager is short but sweet and it flies by in a blur of speed metal energy with riffs aplenty and a quarter of catchy and always fun thrash anthems. Bring on the new album and long live the Waste!
