Please introduce yourself.
We are Sewer Trench, a 5-piece Deathcrust band from London, UK.
When your band was created?
We were formed in 2012
What music genre do you play?
We’ve been defined by a writer in the Cvlt Nation website as Death Crust, we’ve been using this definition since. It is crust/d-beat sound based metal with bits of grindcore, some hears black metal bits too.
How could you describe your music in several words?
I guess it is an amalgamation of subgenres, crust, d-beat, grindcore, death metal and to some extent also black metal. We keep experimenting with it sound wise. On our debut album it was originally supposed to bring an aesthetic of ugliness on its structure avoiding intros and anything catchy but as the members with the band changing and bring new influences, and it end up a bit of mixes of ideas.
Now for our next release we added a second guitarist to bring harmonics into play, although harsh and full of distortion, we are now a bit more melodic.
What is the main theme of your lyrics?
Initially it was cliché political rants, now the main lyricist is our vocalist, Hadley, and he as deeper introspective lyrics about life.
What would you like to achieve with the band activity?
Definitely more gigs and touring. We are a live band we like play live, that’s the main focus, more concerts better concerts and hopefully survive with this.
How many gigs you have played so far and maybe you visit other countries with concerts?
We’ve played lots of gigs around England. Apart from UK we’ve played Germany, Czech Republic, Netherlands. Now we are planning a tour for early autumn, so far Italy and Switzerland.
Is there anything very important about your band that must know fans and labels?
Well we are just about to release a 7’’ split with Ressonancia Morfica, it will be a co-release between Brazilians and Europeans DIY labels.
What the formats you would like to see your releases, CD, Vinyl, Tape…? And how do you see the future of physical releases?
For our releases we opt for vinyl for collection value, a most people listen most music online nowadays. I think physical releases only limited for collection purposes.
When you will get label deal, would you like to help to the label with promotion from your side, or you want label do all without your help?
We come from the DIY scene and anyone, be label, other band or magazines which support us, will have our support back.
What’s your reaction towards negative opinions about your music?
Constructive opinions are always welcome; we don’t care for any other negative opinion.
And the last question, how do you like our webzine, do you have some remarks towards its look or functionality?
Well I would like to thanks for this space, there is plenty of music news website around but only few open space for underground unsigned bands.
