So, my dear friends and metal family, it finally happened! At last! It’s been two years since we had an opportunity to go the gigs and festivals. I don’t know what about you but I was really hungry for live music and live interaction with “metal family”. Two years we lived in waiting for the gigs, which were cancelled and postponed for unknown dates one by one. That was a real nightmare, isn’t it? Now we can probably forget about it, so let’s joy like won a million in a lottery!
Finally, Oskorei Fest came to Lviv and with all the joy I want to thank all the gods who look like organizers (I really think you need to be some king of god to raise such gig in our tough times). We’ve seen and listened to three bands at a time – KHORS, Colotyphus and Ezkaton, so let’s say “thank you” one more time.
First of all I want to say a word about the location: Kotelnja Ruїn Bar. This is my first time I’ve been to this place and I have some mixed feelings about it. We should thank to the owners of the place because they made a really big space for everything. At the same time I was surprised that such place is rented. I really think that city authorities should pay some extra to these people for the work they have done and not vice versa but let’s get back to gig itself. Despite the venue is quite little for three bands, a stage was quite small and the sound has a room for improvement, the atmosphere was friendly and cheerful. Well, look, “metal family” hasn’t got together for two years and we had a lot of to talk about but the most important thing is that there was something to listen to and to see.
Ezkaton opened the gig; I listened to them for the first time, I really loved this band. Yet there is a word “depressive” in the band’s description, I wasn’t depressed at all because they are really interesting and atmospheric guys. Probably they are not guys or even they don’t belong to human race – you can’t be sure because you can’t see anything except their cloaks and nobody knows the band’s members. The mystery, which can be solved only by Sherlock Holmes, no less, yeah. Anyway, Ezkaton warmed up the crowd great so don’t miss this band!
Next band was Colotyphus from Lviv. They heated a little bit rusty metalheads even more and we recalled what is it to headbang and slam. When they finished their performance, we got outside totally happy because tomorrow our necks will be in pain and our posture will be straight like we swallowed a long nail. However, it’s a pleasant feeling, so let’s thank Colotyphus for this.
The culmination of the evening was Khors, the legendary band from Kharkiv. They presented their last album, dedicated to events that happened in Kharkiv in 30s, some sad events. This album dedicated to all creative persons who were repressed by Stalin’s regime and that’s something we should remember. We should make a room in our memory, where all these events will be kept in orderly manner to prevent it from happening one more time and to respect the memory of all the people who made all the possible just to give us freedom and to make us feel free.
When I listened to Khors, I saw my home steppe land, felt the wind, which moves through the smelly grass and saw the horses galloping free in the fields. I saw people who ready to fight until the last drop of their blood for their future and future of their grandchildren. Thank you, guys, for this great feelings, for the tears in my eyes. Your music definitely cleans the brains.
P.S. In the end I want to refer to my lovely “metal family”. My people, I know for sure you haven’t died for these two years ’cause I saw you healthy and wealthy. So, please, wake up, get yourself from stasis, go to the gigs and support our bands, especially because they are great and continue to make the music no matter what! Looking forward for next gigs!
