October Tide is a Swedish Melodic Doom/Death metal band, founded around 1995. The latest release is ‘’Tunnel Of No Light’’ from 2013, the time Alexander Högbom (Centinex,Volturyon) joined the band as the new vocalist. Here is an interview with Alexander who had time to answer for me a few questions about October Tide.
Hi Alexander, how things are going?
Hello! I just finished the work with a festival I organize in my home town Ludvika last weekend. The festival was a great success so right now life is really good.
Tell me when did October Tide was founded?
The band was founded in 1995 by Fredrik Norrman and Jonas Renkse as a side project of Katatonia.
”Tunnel Of No Light” is the release from 2013. Tell me about it.
Well I did join the band in the middle of the writing of Tunnel Of No Light. I remember that it was a quite stressful time cuz I had to learn all the new songs to prepare for the studio and at the same time learn a bunch of old songs as the band was booked for some festivals in Europe. And I have a few other bands that I do the vocals in so it was alot of time spent in the rehearsing room at that time.
What can you tell me about the other band’s releases?
At this point I believe I will participate in the work with 4 albums that will be released early next year. Volturyon are recording their new album in this writing moment. October Tide has signed with Agonia Records for a fullength. And then there is two other bands that we have sealed deals with but that is not officially made public yet. More news to come.
Who mainly writes the lyrics?
For October Tide I have not written one single lyric. The poetical sadness and sorrow is just not my way of writing. So we have “guest-writers” such as Jonas Renkse and Lorence Jonathan that write that stuff for us. But with the other bands I write most of the lyrics.
Are you going to release a new album soon?
Yes. With October Tide early 2016
What are the band’s influences?
I don’t think October Tide are influenced by anything. They just creates music that they like.
Any shows confirmed for this year?
Yes we are booked for one show in Sweden next month and during the fall we are doing some shows in Europe. No tour, just like 5-6 club shows and festivals.
Do you have a message for the fans?
I feel like a beer after this.
