Kade-Storm-Project-Photo Please introduce yourself.
My name is Kade Storm, I am the founder and sole-architect of my own solo metal project of my namesake.

When your band was created?
The project itself came into being around late 2003.

What the style do you play?
While the aim was to always keep things simple with a heavy metal focus on style with blackened themes and elements, the music itself ended up being far more complex in terms of style categorizations. People have called it heavy metal with a doom tempo and blackened themes, to doom metal with a grove and industrial undertones. I prefer to simplify these various takes into Blackened Doom Metal.

How could you describe your music by several words?
I prefer to borrow a bit of sentiment from one of the recent reviews of my debut album. The music I create is most certainly a deeply dark, Satanic work with a very heavy sound and tempo conveyed with aspects of occultism and a murky atmospheric design.

What is the main theme of your lyrics?
The lyrical thematic is multilayered, much like the music. At face value, it is heavily occultist and Satanic, conveying the picture of a bleak world in a cyclically bleak timeline and future. The complexity comes not just in the prose employed within the lyrics, but the notion that the lyrics can carry multiple meanings and even serve as an allegoric reflection on the world as we know it today.

What would you like to achieve with the band activity?
To achieve my own artistic prominence and, in a manner of speaking, infect humanity’s musical ether with my creative abominations.

How many gigs you have played so far and maybe you visit other countries with concerts?
Not in recent times, but I’m open to the prospects, even though I consider myself, firstly and foremost, a studio artist.

Is there anything very important about your band what SHOULD know fans and labels?
I am in this entirely on my own terms and have paved my own way. I appreciate the support, but I am not obliged to anyone and likewise, they are not obliged to my creations – it is a purely mutual exchange. While I believe in a certain kind of work ethic, I also believe that artists have to self-determine through their own creative vision and that labels and fans must understand these parameters rather than expect to have their own wants and needs delivered by an act. This is exactly the kind of misapprehension that devolves the dynamic between artists and listeners to that of zestless products aimed to sate mindless consumer trends.

What the formats you would like to see your releases, CD, Vinyl, Tape…? And how do you see future of physical releases?
I’ve already put out a limited run of CDs and then there are digital copies. I wouldn’t mind expanding with vinyl copies and tapes, but that really comes down to what is in demand. The same can be said about the future; a lot has changed with the digital age when it comes to the value and appreciation of physical releases, but that in itself doesn’t tell us anything. One still gets fans who want collectible physical copies.

When you will get label deal, would you like to help to the label with promotion from your side, or you want label do all without your help?
I have no idea, and I’m not actively – at present – pursuing any such deal. Getting that out of the way, I will admit that it would be nice to work alongside a label in the promotion and expansion of my project.

What’s your reaction towards negative opinions about your music?
The cliché “they are entitled to their opinion” sums it up nicely. At the end of the day, this isn’t about sterile pandering to target demographics – it’s music, thus, it is subjective by its very design. I think anything that is devoid in its ability to elicit negative or positive reactions is a functional anomaly and a practical impossibility.

And last question, how do you like our webzine, do you have some remarks towards its look or functionality?
I’ve always held the works and media function of such webzines in high regard. There is plenty that can be said about the kind of support artists can develop and bolster from themselves by working with zines committed to helping out underground artists.

Kade Storm is a solo heavy metal project that carries serious blackened doom and industrial overtones, it is headed by its founder and creator, Kade Storm, who handles all the writing, instrumental, vocals and production duties. The project’s origins date back to 2003, yet the project itself possesses the fire and drive of an entity that is perpetually rising anew from old remains, having recently produced a full length concept album titled Beyond Blood & Ashes. Kade Storm’s debut LP, Beyond Blood & Ashes, is an atmospherically grim and haunting concept album that encapsulates the unholy, occultism and darkness of black metal with the slow and heavy sonic tempo of doom and heavy metal paired with industrial background ambience.
