Italian black metal act VACUA unveils Dies Funeris Terrae, the first single from their forthcoming album Mater. The track stands as the perfect introduction to the record, weaving together the band’s two defining souls: sweeping melodic textures with a medieval touch, and ferocious aggression shifting between frantic assaults and crushing grooves.
On a lyrical level, Dies Funeris Terrae encapsulates the conceptual heart of Mater, portraying the last moments of a dying Earth that consumes itself, erasing mankind and its folly in apocalyptic devastation. Both musically and thematically, the song embodies VACUA’s vision at its most uncompromising, setting the stage for the darkness yet to come.

VACUA is a black metal band from Rome, Italy, formed in 2023. That same year, in December, they released their self-titled debut EP, delivering a raw medieval black metal sound with shades of DSBM and a dungeon synth outro. Lyrically, the work revolves around inner conflicts and the thirst for vengeance of a Janara—a witch figure rooted in Southern Italian medieval folklore. Throughout 2024 and 2025, VACUA shared the stage with several acts, including Sociasylum (Estonia), Rats Will Feast (Finland), and Italian bands such as Wizard Master, Svart Vinter, Brainsore, and Black Motel Six. On October 15th, 2025, they will open for Unholy Altar (USBM) in Pescara, Italy. On October 18th 2025, the band will perform at Rome Carnage Extreme Fest III, alongside headliners Desaster (Germany) and other Italian extreme acts, including Infernal Angels, Dr Gore, Sonum, and Grief Prophecy. VACUA have recently signed with the Japanese label Hidden Marly Production for the release of their first full-length album, Mater, set to be released on November 7th, 2025, on CD and across all digital platforms.
