Levania is an Italian Gothic band, which released two albums until now and soon they might release a new record. Here is an interview with three members of the band: Ligeia (vocals), Still (vocals and keys) and Fade (bass).
Hi to all, how are you?
Hi Carla, Fine thank you. Hope you’re fine.
Tell me when did Levania was formed?
Still: Levania was born in Ferrara (Italy) on March 2007. After many and troubling the line-up changes, the band was completed in 2011, and in the same year we’ve recorded the first album ’’Parasynthesis’’.
Ligeia: I joined the band four years ago. First I was just a fan. I followed them into concerts and I really liked what they did and how they did it. One day my dream of singing for them came true.
The debut album was released in 2012 entitled ”Parasynthesis”. How the recordings were going?
Fade: We had many songs written so we decided to record a demo. The demo went to the right hands and then we got the proposal to recod an album. So we did.
Ligeia: Recordings went very well, two years ago. we recorded the whole CD at the Real Sound studio and still I want to say thank you to Wahomi Corvi, the producer, for his patience and professionalism.
What can you tell me about the second release from 2014 ”Renascentist”?
Fade: Amazing album! Different to the first one. It’s much more mature. The sound also is completly different. The third one will be also different.
Still: This album is more “commercial” than the previous one, ”Renascentis” has accurate and modern sounds, we have worked very hard on arrangements and sounds.
Ligeia: Personally I can’t wait to start working on new material. For now we have some really exciting lines. But we can not yet say anything about the final outcome.
Who mainly writes the lyrics?
Ligeia: The texts in ”Renascentis” I wrote them myself. Each of the songs tells a story, in the frame of another story.
Are you going to release a new album soon?
Fade: It’s in our mind. We’re writing something new. We’ll see what happens.
Ligeia: Yes, it is in our mind,maybe next year!
What are the band’s influences?
Fade: Personally I’m son of the dark of the 80’s: Virgin Prunes, Joy Division. Clan OF Xymox,The Cure.
Still: Every members of Levania has very different musical influences, so our inspiration comes from not listening gothic metal band, but listening every kind of music. Personally, I think that the music can be only in two kinds: good or bad.
Ligeia: I really like Iron Maiden, Labirynth…
Are there any shows confirmed for this year?
Still: Not yet, but we’re working to get them.
Ligeia: Yes, we haven’t any shows confirmed, but we’re going to announce some important news about our trip with the band. We have got some news, that are incredibile!
Do you have a message for the fans?
Fade: Stay tuned with us. We are never expected.
Ligeia: Of course, I have something to tell, I love our fans!
