Mephorash is a Black metal band from Sweden formed in 2010. The band has released two albums and for this year they are preparing to relase both a new EP and album. Here is an interview with Mishbar Bovmeph (guitar) who answered some good questions.

2.jpgHow are you Mishbar?
Mishbar: I’m fine.

Some words about Mephorash, when the band was formed.
Mishbar: The band was formed five years ago. The band has gone through quite some transformations since the idea of the band came in to me and my brothers heads. I can finally say with confidence that we have found our way now, everything is coming out exactly as I imagine and I am finally completely satisfied with the sound and also with the line-up of the band when performing live.

First debut album was out in 2011, ”Death Awakens”. Tell me about it.
Mishbar: The debut ”Death Awakens” is an album that was our first fumble in the dark, it is a fuck you to everything basically, just pure emotion, not much thought. I can’t say that I identify with that album at all today, but I am still proud of it because regardless of what, it has been a first step on the journey towards what I am today, and what Mephorash has become.

”Chalice Of Thagirion” the band’s second album from 2012, how the recordings were going?
Mishbar: ”Chalice of Thagirion” is a huge leap from Death Awakens in every sense, much more thought behind everything, we really tapped in to our occult interests while recording that album. While Death Awakens was solely focused on melancholia and misanthropy, Chalice of Thagirion is focused on the occult, more precisely the nightside of the Tree of Life.

You had a split album in 2013 with the band Ashencult, right?
Mishbar: Yes indeed, Opus Serpens was a very powerful release. The song  “Atramentous Ungod Aspect” that we provided for the split is still one of my favourite songs that we have made, powerful guest vocals by Acherontas V. Priest and very powerful lyrics created by our brother Loqatzov. It is radiating with energy, especially when performed live, you can sense the whole room shaking.

What are the lyrical themes for this band?
Mishbar: It varies a lot, we use whatever keys fall in to our hands. I am progressing quite a bit on my personal journey so the themes varies depending on where I am during the recording process.
For now we have a big focus on the four elemental hells of the void, negated realities.

Are you preparing for a new album?
Mishbar: Yes, we are preparing to release one EP and a Full-length this summer.

Who mainly writes the lyrics into the band?
Mishbar: It varies, most often Mashkelah writes the lyrics, sometimes I myself write the lyrics and sometimes Loqatzov.
For our coming full album occult author G. De Laval has written all the lyrics for the whole album. It made sense that we went in that direction because we are basing the whole album on a conception that he perceived and mentioned in one of his books.

Did you have some shows/tours along?
Mishbar: We have a small tour with Ofermod in sweden in september and then we embark on our first journey the United States in october.

Do you have a message for the fans?
Mishbar: The message will be understood by those who needs to understand it. We are not presenting a buffet for everyone to enjoy, everything we proclaim and present within our music is there because it needed to be for our progression. Some people will understand, and to those we raise our chalice, but many will also fail to understand and see the point in what we are doing, and so be it, we are not bothered with it.

Thank you for your time. Cheers!
Mishbar: Cheers!
