We are Discordant System, metal band from Ukraine
When your band was created?
Originally DS was started in 2012. But, ‘cause we are from Eastern Ukraine, the Russian military invasion, that broke upon our region in 2014, band activities were pretty much on a hold up to the late 2016, when it was actually renewed – so 2016 may be called a second birthday in many ways.
What the style do you play?
We merge a lot of different styles of metal and rock in our music. Mainly it’s prog-metal, groove-metal, math-metal, post-metal and post-rock
How could you describe your music by several words?
Freedom in process, diving deep
What is the main theme of your lyrics?
Lyrics are heavy influenced by classical literature, modern science discoveries (physics, astronomy)
What would you like to achieve with the band activity?
To create and share our music via records and live gigs, as wide as it possible.
How many gigs you have played so far and maybe you visit another countries with concerts?
In 2017-2018 we were quite active on local scene, but never yet played in other counties
Is there anything very important about your band what SHOULD know fans and labels?
As hundreds of bands formed every day, it’s actually hard to figure out something that wasn’t already there before. We are not unique – yet we are not faceless. You won’t mistake our music with any other once you’ve hear it – of that we are certain
What the formats you would like to see your releases, CD, Vinyl, Tape…? And how do you see future of physical releases?
We would definitely want to release our stuff on CD and Vinyl, but see the fact rather as fact of appreciation and recognition. Main distribution source, in our opinion is digital.
When you will get label deal, would you like to help to the label with promotion from your side, or you want label do all without your help?
Of course we would help. Even more – we see it as label helping us rather than we helping label. It is true that any label has more resources than a single band, even a small one. Still we are willing to engage in any sorts of promotion activities and will certainly do that. Doing it now, actually.
What’s your reaction towards negative opinions about your music?
The only thing that of everyones liking is a 100 dollar bill, as a proverb say. There will be negative reaction – and it’s still better than no reaction at all.
And last question, how do you like our webzine, do you have some remarks towards its look or functionality?
Zine looks good actually, but for some reason I couldn’t change the scale – it’s just fixed on the same size, so I couldn’t enlarge the text to read it more comfortably.
