Abatuar is one crazy-assed motherfucker from Panama, that goes by the name of Cadaver. And whatever Cadaver has for breakfast every morning, I want some.
If I tell you the ingredients of this 31 minute onslaught, you might not think they’d all fit together, but I don’t know how he does it, but it all works… what could easily be a complete mess, ends up being a fist pumping album that just crushes you.
Take the riff for Roots, stick that in a Grind blender, throw in some (angry) wasps in a jar. Add even more riffs. Drumming? Stick the drum machine on super fast and keep switching it on and off and add some random beats for fun… but as these could be real drums, just add a cocktail of drugs and record the results. Speed and acid should do it
Vocals? Blood curdling, gutteral and blackdeathgrindhate… if you please.
Melody… that’s kind of in short supply, but what there is, it rises to the top…
It’s a complete mishmash of haphazard styles, but there’s loads of groove, plenty of aggression and just a multitude of extremes that is layer upon layer of aural brutality at its finest. And I fucking love it….
Don’t ask me why as this is way heavier (and crazier) than what I normally listen to. But if a demented Slayer had a fight with the serial killer version of Napalm Death, Abatuar would be the result of the carnage.
Approach this album with caution if you’re of a delicate disposition, but embrace the beast and let the brutal aura into your life.
