Scarab “Serpents of the Nile”
ViciSolum Productions

Scarab – Serpents of the Nile – just once looked to this title I have got an idea this band is completely into Egyptian mythology etc… But as a result I have got much more – it turned out that this band comes from Egypt:); so I have got much more interesting feelings what I’ll hear there. It’s always great to praise your domestic themes, and it’s always great when there is quality musical stuff, hah, just like in case with Scarab. Well, here are intro + seven tracks of enough uncommon death metal. From the other hand – death metal is a death metal, but you know, sometimes musicians are able to do something a bit extraordinary. Scarab have mixed death metal with progressive tunes and aforementioned Egyptian tunes. Of course no one will jump above of mighty Nile, but Scarab is actually near with them, mainly thx to the atmosphere and some technical aspects. The music is enough catching and pretty well composed; I have no found any borting tune, in spite of some songs have 7-8 minutes length. Raging and measured guitars successfully comes crossing with bass lines and good guitar solos. Drumming is also enough good, it sounds clear and beating. As for the main rhythm-section structure – I’m dare to say that musicians have enough of skills, thus it both composed and recorded on high level. So here we have awesome album, technical death metal, which is filled with proper tempo-changes, guitar solos, intense music, massive sound, freezing atmosphere and just good musicianship. I can’t say Scarab is a brilliant band, but I could call “Serpents of the Nile” by some word like awesome, and it’s minimum. Try Scarab and sink deeply into atmosphere of merciless ancient Egypt, with all the darkness, tortures and etc! Btw, this album was recorded there in Egypt, but mastered by Polish Hertz!

90/100
