Immortal Scorn is a Death metal band from Germany. The lead vocalist, Thomas Engel, answered a few questions about the band.
Hello Thomas, how are you?
Hi Carla, I’m fine, thank you. I’m just a little excited about being interviewed.That is great and shows me that Immortal Scorn is on the right way….
Tell me when the band Immortal Scorn was formed?
The first rehearsals took place in autumn 2012, but this was just Andreas, our drummer and me – so at this point you can’t say that we were a real band. We were just jamming and writing first songs. As we mentioned that the songs were really good and some friends were really into it, we searched for some other members. So the band was actually formed in Spring 2013 and called „Immortal Scorn“ from then on.
There exist some records of the band? If yes, tell me the title of it/them.
Yes, we recorded our first 4-song EP „From Hell“ in january 2014 at Beatpoint Studio in Krefeld, Germany with Klaus Spangenberg. He is a sound-engineer for bands like Morgoth, Sodom, Dew-Scented etc. We are also proud that Burkhard Schmitt (Hate Squad) and Frank Blackfire (Kreator/Sodom) agreed to take part as guest musicians on several songs on this EP.
Are you preparing for a new materials soon?
Of course! We are always writing new songs and we can’t wait to record them. We are planning a full-length album hopefully for this year. So stay tuned…
Did you have some shows/tours along?
Yes, since 2013 we played some shows and good gigs. We are always looking for shows because we want to play – therefore we run this band! There are still some shows coming up this year. Two weeks ago we opened-up for Belphegor and in September we will play with Cripper… there are still gigs to come!
As a Death metal band, what are your influences?
All the early death-metal bands like Grave, Entombed, Benediction or Unleashed a.s.o. are a great influence for all of us. But we want to do our own stuff. We try to combine things and want to add some „Rock“ to the death-metal.
Any lyrical themes?
The classical and typical death-metal themes like death, sickness, torture, horror, murder
Immortal Scorn has a motto: ”Less is more”, tell a few words about it.
„Less is more“ is the motto how we write songs. We want to keep the songs as simple as possible. We don’t want the audiance have to think during our show or when listening to our music on CD – the only should bang their head!
Are there some shows confirmed for this year?
Yes, there are still some shows to come this year. In july we play at an Open Air Festival called „Riedfest“ or in september we play a show together with the german Thrash-Metal Band „Cripper“. We are very excited about these gigs, but are still searching for some more…

We are thankfull that there are people out there who support the underground and give bands like us (Immortal Scorn) a chance, a chance to be heard! So come to our show and see us live…
