Please introduce yourself.
We are attic with a lowercase “a” cause we are weird like that…
When your band was created?
2012 when a drummer talked to a guitar player.
What the style do you play?
Death Metal with some “Post” something in there somewhere.
How could you describe your music by several words?
Contrast would be our ultimate goal. In our opinion you cannot have fast without slow, hard without soft. We would also stress that attic does not write music, we discover it. Our angle is that each individual in this band is not only a conduit, but also a filter. We apply filters to what we discover, and hopefully in the end when the song(s) inevitably take control, we end up with something different – or offer a new angle in regards to our influences.
What is the main theme of your lyrics?
We often strive to leave them open to breathe and allow for plenty of interpretation. With “Seasons” the main goal was to emphasize the finitude of man within nature and the cosmos. With a song like “Spring” we gladly added cheery imagery, and asked for “Smiles” in a genre that sometimes lays too long in the dark. Because after dark there is always light. Oh, and “Monument” is about a blowjob…
What would you like to achieve with the band activity?
We are not in this for the money. Simply we are in it to give knod to all those who have stood before us and influenced a lot of what we do. It is our goal to hopefully do the same. That would be the shit!
How many gigs you have played so far and maybe you visit another countries with concerts?
< 15. And, YES!
Is there anything very important about your band what SHOULD know fans and labels?
Yes, we are different. The only thing that we don’t take too serious is ourselves.
What the formats you would like to see your releases, CD, Vinyl, Tape…? And how do you see future of physical releases?
“Seasons” was a digital release – soon to be CD. But our follow-up album “Mountain” will be vinyl for sure – glow in the dark vinyl… yeah…
When you will get label deal, would you like to help to the label with promotion from your side, or you want label do all without your help?
We have really grabbed onto the marketing thing – both online and on the street. We come from a very small town in Southern Oregon and have reached Russia. They really like us, and we are very proud of that. In fact today we just secured our .band url which we have been stalking for months. But we will accept any help we can get from labels, fans, grandmas…
What’s your reaction towards negative opinions about your music?
Everyone has a right to an opinion – and we are lucky to have not received any negatives. But that always comes with time. But honestly negative feedback is hard to swallow towards any musician. Anyone who can make something, or consistently release material on a mass market deserves respect. Even if it was “handed” to them. Art is not easy, and nothing is given.
And last question, how do you like our webzine, do you have some remarks towards its look or functionality?
Flippin sweet. Love the simple and uncluttered look while still offering a lot of content yo.
