One of thrash metal’s most exciting young contenders, HAZZERD, release a second song from the group’s anticipated third album (to be released Jan. 17th). While “Deathbringer” saw the Canadian quartet come roaring back with a heavy, intense track that never lost sight of its melody and catchiness, the oddly named follow-up – no that’s not a typo – “ThArSh TiLl DeTh” offers up another facet of the group’s repertoire.
“The newest single off our upcoming 3rd album is the quote “silly track” on the record. Continuing a tradition from both our debut album, ‘Misleading Evil’ and sophomore album, ‘Delirium,’ by adding in a light-hearted, funny sounding track. The song is spelt all weird & unorthodox as the word “Tharsh” comes from us being silly kids and calling the genre Tharsh as opposed to Thrash and the uppercase/lowercase lettering is meant to portray someone mocking the term Thrash till Death,” explains drummer/singer Dylan Westendorp.
“The lyrics really are pointed at our younger selves as we truly didn’t listen to anything other than metal music and we thought less of people who did. So basically, the track is making fun of us when we were metal elitists haha. A very fun and fast song–straight to the point. The party song on ‘The 3rd Dimension.’ Please enjoy the music video we put together. We think you will! Now on YouTube!”
HAZZERD have created the entertaining music video to accompany the tune, so watch now HERE https://youtu.be/G4NLms-LY2M The song is also available on all streaming/download platforms.
The clip features the new full line-up of HAZZERD, including the debut appearance from new guitarist Nick Schwartz (also of Tymo).
“ThArSh TiLl DeTh” and “Deathbringer” https://youtu.be/-_C6HBXaq-U both appear on next year’s new HAZZERD album, ‘The 3rd Dimension,’ which will be in stores and online Jan. 17th. Available as a jewelcase CD or on limited colored vinyl Rough Seas (200) for the N. American version and Mars Attacks (300) as the European variant, as well as a 100 limited run of cassettes exclusively from the band and label. Pre-order now HERE https://lnk.to/hazzerd
‘The 3rd Dimension’ is the anticipated follow-up to 2020’s ‘Delirium,’ one of the best and consistent sellers at M-Theory Audio that even received a nod from Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine who championed the group as a promising thrash hopeful, alongside Power Trip. ‘The 3rd Dimension,’ was mastered by Johnny Gasparic (Into Eternity) and features cover artwork once again by Andrei Bouzikov (Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, Skeletonwitch).
“Thank you all for being so patient with us while we worked on the band as a whole and the new album over the last few years,” states Dylan. “We really can’t wait for you to hear it. This is for you — the fans, the underground.”
HAZZERD was initially formed by Westendorp and guitarist Brendan Malycky, two Calgary teens who were inspired by the early work of thrash legends such as Overkill, Metallica and Anthrax. After solidifying their lineup with the addition of lead guitarist Toryin Schadlich (also of Traveler) and bassist David Sprague, the group recorded their full-length debut, “Misleading Evil,” which was released via Canada’s World War Now Records. The record was praised by Metal-Temple.com as “one of the strongest thrash releases of 2017,” while Dead Rhetoric called the album “an exhilarating aural ride” with a “Maiden/Priest-meets-early Metallica vibe.”
HAZZERD caught the attention of M-Theory Audio who snapped up the promising outfit and released ‘Delirium’ in 2020 taking the band to the next level and getting great critical response including Sonic Perspectives calling it “an album that embodies the best of thrash and heavy metal,” while Metal Injection wrote “rip-roaring… leaves absolutely no survivors in its wake.”
Earlier this year, HAZZERD were invited to contribute two exclusive songs, “Skin Peeler” and “Stella Screams,” in collaboration with author Julie Hiner from Killers & Demons for her horror book project, ‘Thrash Track.’ Hazzerd wrote the music to Julie’s lyrics for an experimental side adventure.
In recent years, HAZZERD has performed alongside the likes of Hatchet, Striker, Vicious Rumors, Archspire, Spellcaster and Grim Reaper in addition to playing noted Canadian festivals such as Loud As Hell and Armstrong MetalFest. Watch for more live show announcements soon.
