Norwegian black metal band, Nordjevel, debuted last year with the self-titled album and later this February, the band will release a new album. About the album details and other stuffs related to the band, spoke to Nord, the guitar player of Nordjevel.

It’s my pleasure Nord to have this interview with you! How things are going?
My pleasure Carla! Things are going good these days. The Nordjevel fireball is rolling faster than ever before, and we have tons of stuff going on in 2017.

Nordjevel was formed in 2015 and last year you have debuted with a self-titled album. I’d say you have started to write the album fast since you have formed as a band.
We started writing the album right away basically. We formed the band in may 2015 I think, and the album was written by the end of june. Then we started recording the album during the summer months. When I start up a process like that, I can’t rest properly before everything is done and out of my hands.

Tell me more about the album, musical direction, lyrical themes…
We didn’t really know the musical direction before we started writing. All we knew was that it was going to be black metal of some sort. I haven’t kept up with the genre for the past 10-15 years, so I guess it has a more late 90’s approach. The lyrics span from national romanticism to satanic themes and concepts. Doedsadmiral is a bit secretive about his writings, but I think we might release them at some point.

What was the feedback both from the fans and online zines?
The feedback has been overwhelming from day one. It seems like people have been waiting for an album like this for quite some time, at least that’s what we hear from every direction.
Certain people are of course offended that we have gotten so much done in such a short time. Targetting others is a lot easier than actually working to better your own situation, said the failure.

What about a new Nordjevel album? Will we get to hear it later this year?
We have a three track EP ”Krigsmakt” coming out February 20th and the writing of the second full length is already in the workings. We hope for it to be released in the late autumn of 2017, but I can’t make any promises.

As many other Norwegian bands, you play black metal,  how do you see Nordjevel in the Norwegian metal scene after 5-10 years?
The plan is of course to be one more prominent bands by then, by working hard and staying true to our own intuition. We don’t mind putting ourselves out there, and we are outgoing as a band. Of course that’s a carnal sin in a small place like Norway, and we are the biggest sinners of them all.

Are you going to tour soon, summer festivals perhaps?
Absolutely. We start off with a UK tour in April along with our good friends in Ethereal. There will be a handful of dates leading up to Eradication Festival in Wales, in which we will be one of the headlining bands. After that we’ll have a couple of weeks off before going overseas for a US tour with Imperial Triumphant. Regarding summer festivals, I’m not really sure. I think there are some things brewing there as well, but I have nothing to report yet.

You are also active in bands such as Fatal Impact, what news can you give me about the band?
Nordjevel has taken most of my time for the past 1,5 years, so I don’t have any news unfortunately. I put most of my other projects on hold for now, but who knows for the future? Fatal Impact is a great melodic metal band that never got the attention it deserved.

To quit the interview, would you like to send a message to the fans and where would you like to play for them soon?
We are looking forward to seeing you all on the road in 2017/2018, and in the meantime check out ”Krigsmakt” on February 20th.  We can’t thank you enough for taking a chunk out of your valuable time to check out what we do!

Thank you Nord again! Cheers and hope to see you live soon!

Thank you too!
