Interview with Robert Lamu, the guitar player of the Stoner/Psychedelic metal band from Sweden, Skraeckoedlan.
Hi Robert, how things are going?
Hi! Everything is awesome, thank you! Working hard on writing new songs, and touring as much as possible.
Tell me when did Skraeckoedland was formed?
We formed back in 2009 after a crazy rock concert in our hometown. We met after the show and started talking about forming a heavy, doomy, fuzzy rock band, so we did.
The debut album was released in 2011 entitled ”Appeltradet”. How the recordings were going?
We had some contact with the dudes from Truckfighters, so we asked Oskar if he wanted to record and produce the album, and he said yes. So we went to the town of Örebro for a couple of weeks and recorded it, with Oskar as the producer. It turned out great.
This year you have released the second album, ”Sagor”. Tell me about it.
We started writing this ablum in 2012, after we had toured Äppelträdet for a while. The song writing process was great and we started recording in the spring of 2013. We decieded to produce and record the album our self, with the help of friends and technincians, so it had to take the time it took. We really poured our hearts into every detail of this album, and we really love what we managed to create.
Who mainly writes the lyrics and what are the lyrical themes?
We work together on everything, but it is mostly me who write the lyrics, since i am the one who needs to sing them. The themes circulates around topics that i think is importand, but with referenses to mysticism, fantasy and science fiction.
What are the band’s influences?
We love so much things, but of course a lot of heavy music. Black sabbath for sure, but also alot of modern bands like Mastodon, Truckfighters, High on fire, kylesa, the sword. I love films, and most of my inspiration comes from movies.
Any shows confirmed for this year?
We will try to tour the new ablum as much as possible, with a lot of shows in Sweden booked. But also in the rest of europe.
Do you have a message for the fans?
Thank you so much for reading this, and for listening to our music. We love you all.
Thank you Robert, all the best!
Thank you!
