Polish Avant-garde Black/Death Metal project Nervous recently released its debut full-length album Acquiescence. Today, Aaron Ciesielski, the mastermind behind the project, has released a guitar playthrough for the album’s opening track, Acquiescence. Watch here:
“Composed at the very end of the process, Acquiescence is actually an overture to the rest of the album, introducing several motifs that will be heard later. Musically, there are a lot of harmonic minor chords and blast beats – which is basically the basis of the whole album. Story-wise, the lyrics depict the protagonist at the beginning of his journey, realising his fears, anxieties and the illusions he has been deluding himself with, so pretty much a metaphor for me being emotionally volatile.” – says Aaron

The concept for the Nervous project originated in Aaron Ciesielski’s head at the end of 2018, in the midst of an existential crisis. What remains from this period of personal development is the music captured on the concept album Acquiescence, released on 28 July 2024.
Every element of Nervous’ work was created independently by Aaron Ciesielski, starting with composition and production, and ending with mixing, mastering and artwork creation.
Nervous’ music explores the extremes of black and death metal music combined with classical and prog rock influences. A unique blend of dissonance and harmony supports an intense emotional charge and thick atmosphere. Acquiescence presents the story of a man rebelling against his nature and fighting his own fears. The album culminates in an acquiescence to living in accordance with oneself.
