Please introduce yourself.
We’re Scylla from County Kerry in the South West of Ireland.
When your band was created?
The band was formed in 2010 by Sohaib Syed, The drummer, lyricist, song-writer and main music-writer for the band.
What the style do you play?
We play black/viking metal.
How could you describe your music by several words?
Atmospheric and dark.
What is the main theme of your lyrics?
Atmosphere, Mythology and Nature.
What would you like to achieve with the band activity?
We would like to share the music that we make with as many people as possible.
How many gigs you have played so far and maybe you visit another countries with concerts?
We have played a good few gigs but we haven’t had the pleasure to play outside of Ireland yet. We hope to change that very soon.
Is there anything very important about your band what SHOULD know fans and labels?
We’ve released our debut album called “Nascency” so be sure to check it out and we’re currently working on our second album titled “Bloodeagle”.
What the formats you would like to see your releases, CD, Vinyl, Tape…? And how do you see future of physical releases?
We would like to see our album being released on CD, Vinyl and Tape.
As far as future releases go, it will be mainly CD but we’re hoping for a Vinyl and Tape release as well.
When you will get label deal, would you like to help to the label with promotion from your side, or you want label do all without your help?
Yes we would like to promote on our side as well as the label.
What’s your reaction towards negative opinions about your music?
We can’t please everyone. Any band should expect negativity.
And last question, how do you like our webzine, do you have some remarks towards its look or functionality?

In the summer of 2011, Sohaib got his brother, Hassan Ali (Guitars/Vocals), and two other friends, Jack-Regan Kirwan (Guitars) and Dusko Kovac (Bass), to form a complete band line-up. They played local gigs, and participated in the Battle of the Bands, during the Rose of Tralee Festival, 2011, which they won.
In 2012, there was a new addition to the band, when Jack Lucey (Guitars) was added to the line-up, temporarily replacing Jack-Regan until the upcoming summer of 2013, as he was busy and couldn’t gig or practice with the band. Once Jack-Regan is back in the summer, Hassan will go on vocal duties full-time, leaving Jack-Regan and Jack Lucey on guitars.
Scylla went into the recording studio in the summer of 2012, to record their album, Nascency, with an additional intro track, written by Jack-Regan Kirwan. The album was released on 10th of April, 2013. The band have already started working on their second album, titled “Bloodeagle” which will be a concept album, and will be released in the next few months.
Work on their second album, titled “Bloodeagle” is currently in progress and is expected to be released later this year.
