SELVANS “Clangores Plenilunio
Avantgarde Music

Oh my devil… Italy continue glad fans of different metal music styles, may it be thrash, death or black metal… Selvans came from the central Italy, and brought us their first EP, which we’ll check here. Do you know what was mostly shocking for me? It was when I just put “play” button, and from the very start seconds Selvans has conquered my mind completely! Really, I have got huge dose of both positive and freezing feelings… Selvans plays black metal, based on mystic tunes, with some awesome folklore melodies from time to time, deeply beautyful atmosphere and truly memorable music. The entirely album’s music sounds really good, because you’ll not hear there similar songs etc, each song sounds different from each other but with the same conception and atmosphere, let’s say – each track is continuation of previous one. I can surely admit excellent, raging high tuned guitars, same nice keyboard parts, devilish screams, and again – atmosphere… From my point of view – the most powerful thing on the “Clangores Plenilunio” is an atmosphere; and of course music is far not less awesome, but atmosphere is something really main over here. Also I have found their sound similar to some of my belowed mystic black metal albums from the ‘90s, what was more than impressive for me personally. In the end I can sure this is one of the best (if not the best) symphonic/folk/atmospheric black metal albums! Real treasure! Epic, mystic, fast, atmospheric, memorable and freezing, and sounds in old-school way, what is the most important for me personally!

95/100
