Please introduce yourself.
My name is Eric Syre. I am the vocalist of Beast Within. We are located in Quebec, Canada.
When your band was created?
The band was created in 2011.
What the style do you play?
Beast Within performs a brand of oldschool metal with rough but sung vocals.
How could you describe your music by several words?
Our music is heavy, dark, mid-tempo and minimalist. Less is more is the law when we compose. We often have been linked to bands like old Celtic Frost and Candlemass.
What is the main theme of your lyrics?
Beast Within stands for the emanation of the true “Self”, buried deep inside each man and woman by centuries of decadence, slavery and blindness imposed by a false moral, political and religious elite.
What would you like to achieve with the band activity?
We want to release great albums and play selects concerts; nothing more, nothing less.
How many gigs you have played so far and maybe you visit another countries with concerts?
We played 3 times already and we are joining Samael for a short Canadian tour in April. We are looking forward to play in your country.
Is there anything very important about your band what SHOULD know fans and labels?
We are veterans of the Quebec scene, having played in bands for the last 20 years. We are professionally-minded without expecting to make a job out of our band. We are creative musicians who believe in their art enough so we don’t have to please anyone but ourselves in the first place.
What the formats you would like to see your releases, CD, Vinyl, Tape…? And how do you see future of physical releases?
We already have a 7” out on Sepulchral Productions. Vinyl is of course our format of predilection but we recognize that the compact disc is still a popular format and that digital files are mandatory.
When you will get label deal, would you like to help to the label with promotion from your side, or you want label do all without your help?
The label will do its share of the deal while we’ll take care of ours. We are not beggars or slaves. Labels should be aware of that.
What’s your reaction towards negative opinions about your music?
We cannot care less.
And last question, how do you like our webzine, do you have some remarks towards its look or functionality?
Never heard of it before but I’ll definitely check it out.
