Worstenemy is a Death metal band from Italy. They have released until now a full-length album in 2013, same they have an EP from 2009. You can read here an interview I had with Mario Pulisci, the frontman and guitar player of the band, who had time to answer my questions about Worstenemy.
wor1 (Копировать) Hi Mario, how are you?
Hi Carla, I’m fine, thank you, it’s a pleasure to answer your questions.

When was Worstenemy founded?
Worstenemy was born in 1997, originally the name of the band was Karnak, but for a homonymy problem, in 2000 we had to change the name. It took a few years since then…

In 2013 you have released the album ”Revelation” via WormHoleDeath records. Tell me about it.
Yes exactly. ”Revelation” is our third album but actually is the first full lenght. Collaboration with WHD was quite natural, we knew Carlo Bellotti, we were working together from few months. We came in the Jonny Mazzeo’s Mathlab Studios for recording the songs of the album. One day Carlo asked if we were interested in make a disc with WHD and we accepted immediately, our decision was prompted by the fact that WHD  was born in that moment and for us was interesting a collaboration with them.I think we made the right choice! ”Revelation” is composed of 10 tracks in old school Death Metal but with different influences not exactly Death metal. I listen a great variety of music and consequently I’m influenced by different elements and sonority, I like to mix different ideas in the songs to make sure that every lyric is different from each other. We gave the task of the mastering to the expert hands of Mika Jussila of the Finnivox Studios, also in this case our decision was successful. The artwork was treated by three friends Paola Porcu and Tonino Mattu for the cover and Roberto Matteu, with us since the first steps, cured  the general layout of the album.

Did you receive good reviews about the album?
Yes, the album was released in great part of the world and since that moment, two years ago, the album has received great reviews.
10444008_822443874478079_105077301352456784_n Are you going to release soon new materials?
From some months two new elements entered in the line up, Simone “Arconda” Piras on drums and Luigi Cara on bass. The new line up aroused a lot of curiosity and we are looking forward to play live. Simone and Luigi are my old friends, I’m proud and happy to play with them.We are working on the songs of the next album, at the moment we have ready 8 tracks but there is still something to fix in the lyrics and in the music. We plan to record 11/12 songs and then choose 10 of them to complete the album.

What are the influences?
Certainly the most of the influences come from bands like Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse and Bold Thrower to name few, but in this new album there will be elements like keyboards and acoustic guitars, especially the drumming will be an innovation. We want to insert every element, also unusual for death metal, that can make a different album from the previous. This album will be varied and powerfu. I can confirm right now!

Who mainly writes the lyrics and what are the lyrical themes?
During the years I wrote the most of the lyrics, but in Revelation there are tracks wrote by the old bass player. In general lyrics talk about personal insights and dfferent views of our life and our way of live and see the world, wars, religion and anti-Catholicism are the themes that we talk about.

Any shows confirmed for this year?
For the moment we haven’t scheduled any live, as I said we are focused on work at the new disc and I think we’ll go on stage at the end of year. Later, surely we will dedicate ourselves to organize a European tour … we will see.
