At long last and after much request, Heidens Hart presents the next title in the series of Forefather re-releases. To be released on the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, we are proud to present “The fighting man”!

The Forefather project was born in September 1997 in Surrey, England by founding members and brothers Athelstan and Wulfstan. The aim was to create powerful and epic Metal tributes to their Anglo-Saxon ancestors, straight from the heart and of the highest quality. After the release of their storming debut album “Deep into time” in march 1999, Forefather justifiably received much praise and great reviews worldwide. Their raw
blend of frantic blast beats, captivating melodies and triumphant vocal passages attrected much attention in the underground. With the lack of great English heathen bands, Forefather had a void to occupy, and with their second offering “The fighting man”, that void is securly filled.
Hailed by many as their best release, “The fighting man” set the trademark hymnic and melodic style Forefather is known for. The strongest elements of the original Forefather sound have been used to wondrous effect on “The fighting man”. The album pioneered with its well written compositions. This time around, the songs are mightier, more melodious and more contrasting than before, alternating between fast, energetic riffs with lots of catchy folk melodies and mid-tempo atmospheric black metal.
The mid-paced “The call to arms” stands alongside the raw, hyper-fast anthem that is “The last battle”, whilst the epic “The paths of yesterdays” combines both these elements together with clean vocals almost sounding chanted at times to a very dynamic whole. No track is wihout a memorable tune, as “The fighting man”, “For these shores” and “Together they stood” all proove. Just as our “Deep into time” reissue, this CD edition comes with a bonus track. This time it’s “The Lady’s Gift”, originally written entirely by Forefather as a song for Folkearth.
After we released the album on vinyl LP last year, “The fighting man” is finally available again on CD as well!
