pigskinner profile Please introduce yourself.
Hello, this is Johnny from Pigskinner. Pigskinner is a one man grindcore project created to play fast paced, groovy, extreme music. I already have a 3 track promo out, which is available for free streaming/downloading on Pigskinner’s bandcamp page. A couple of these songs have also been in two compilations along with other kickass bands. Pigskinner’s debut album “Leech” is also ready, with cover artwork designed by the one and only Giannis “Remedy Art” Nakos, who has worked with bands like Uncleansed, The Crown, Corpsefucking Art and many more.

When your band was created?
Pigskinner was created early 2015 when I started thinking of forming something to lay down some of my ideas that weren’t in anything else I’ve participated in. The music is simple and straightforward so it didn’t take much time to set this thing up.

What the style do you play?
I play grindcore, simple as that.

How could you describe your music by several words?
As I said above, it’s grindcore. It may carry some of my more metal influences, but it definitely remains a grindcore project.

What is the main theme of your lyrics?
The lyrics have to do with a wide range of things. From the more serious socioeconomical state of the world to weed, bacon and pussy. It depends on my mood & thoughts.

What would you like to achieve with the band activity?
I’ve set no goals to be honest. There’s nothing in specific I would like to achieve. I formed Pigskinner in order to have somewhere to blow some steam off and write some good music in the process.

How many gigs you have played so far and maybe you visit another countries with concerts?
Pigskinner is more of a studio project and there are no plans of changing that for now. You never know what the future holds though.

Is there anything very important about your band what SHOULD know fans and labels?
Definitely the fact that I’m a sexy motherfucker.

What the formats you would like to see your releases, CD, Vinyl, Tape…? And how do you see future of physical releases?
I have no problem with any of the formats. It may sound ironic but I don’t get on with digital releases. I use it more as means to an end due to lack of funds.
The future of physical releases looks good if you ask me. There will always be some people buying albums out there, be it CD’s, records or anything else. There will always be the underground that supports buying releases at record shops, live shows etc.

When you will get label deal, would you like to help to the label with promotion from your side, or you want label do all without your help?
Of course I am going to help promoting my band, whether I’m in a label or out of it. I want to be involved in every aspect of Pigskinner and promotion is one more part of it.

What’s your reaction towards negative opinions about your music?
I started Pigskinner and writing music in general mostly for myself. Of course it’s always nice when you receive positive comments, but negative ones are also part of the game. Surely if it’s constructive criticism it’s appreciated.

And last question, how do you like our webzine, do you have some remarks towards its look or functionality?
You’ve done a good job with Antichrist. Extra kudos for supporting the underground and giving bands a place to step up and show the work they’ve done. Keep it up!
