Anthrax “For All Kings”
Nuclear Blast Records

Is it possible that there’s somebody who calls her-/himself metalhead and never heard this band or at least a name?!? I don’t think so!!! Even more – in my opinion (I know that I’m an old orthodox on this point) only a poser or total ignorant, what is the same in this case, can do it. It’s like to say: “I’m interested in history of Ancient Rome, but I have no idea who the fuck was Julius Cesar”!!!

What takes music I can’t write anything revelatory besides this that guys from Nuclear Blast made a little shallow the subject or to be more precis in my opinion just made mistake when they described it by only two words: Heavy Metal. It doesn’t mean of course that we listen to something what can’t be called like that (but only in this broader meaning)! This is Heavy Metal, but not only and even not at all. I can hear there some elements of old school Hard Core and first of all Thrash Metal – if I’d have to describe band’s music with only one word than it’d be “Thrash” and not “Heavy”. Anyway, I can also easily hear influences of other genres of music (not necessarily strongly connected with METAL – they’re not so big maybe, but…), so it’s not as easy as you can see. For me it means only that musicians just create music and don’t care how it’ll be called. It means also that instruments are for them like parts of themselves in what isn’t anything strange after these 35 years, anyway.

On newest album of this pure legend we can find 13 songs which, as I said above can’t be described by one or even three words. In case of ANTHRAX it’s in my opinion very similar as in case of SLAYER. I mean that ANTHRAX is just ANTHRAX and it means that they have their own unique style which we can’t (and it’s not coz of huge respect to them) compare to any other band, just like SLAYER is SLAYER. Everyone who at least once heard them will know after first accords that it’s exactly this and not any other band!

Cover art is pure satanic paint which at least in my mind looks like some allegory of gig. On the bottom we can see the crowd under the stage just during some Metal gig – we can suppose that there plays ANTHRAX. This supposition is even more then entitled if we’ll look at three figures who stays there – they’re in at least two cases similar to musicians. But the most visible is stained glass work which emanates the light. It’s of course in the form of pentagram.

THIS IS A MUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
