Hi! Can you talk about the inspiration behind the title of your upcoming album, Glacial Domination?
The inspiration behind the record comes a lot from our time after Crypt of Ice touring, dealing with depression, loss and the cold nature of life.

How do you feel you’ve evolved as a band since your debut album, Crypt of Ice?
We feel that it has a lot more to show than our previous record in terms of solos, lead vocal performance and overall production, we were able to put more resources into it and have more time to craft what we truly wanted.

The themes of isolation and suffering are prevalent in your music. Can you talk about how those themes relate to your personal experiences?
Life can be incredibly insane and we have all dealt with our share of depression and life’s misfortunes so we try our best to pour that into our music along with the power that we gained by continuing to overcome it!

How did you come up with the name Frozen Soul, and what does it represent to you?
We hadn’t a single idea of what to call the band and we ended up on some lyrics out of one of Michael and I’s favorite Metallica songs, “Trapped Under Ice”, Frozen Soul frozen down to the core!

What are some of the challenges you faced while recording Glacial Domination?
Being in a professional studio was a new experience, for us and our producer Daniel schmuck. I faced the loss of my younger brother Cory and we had to prepare for a lot of touring at the same time.

You’ve been described as a band that evokes the old-school sound of death metal. How do you balance paying homage to that sound while also pushing the genre forward?
It’s something that we are constantly working on, we love the old ways so much and truly feel at home playing that style. At the same time we have to evolve so we can keep having fun, we keep true to the old ways as much as possible and always will!

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a band so far?
To keep pushing forward and to make sure were having fun no matter what! It’s hard to do with so much hard work and movement, so we just remind ourselves that with every milestone theres more to accomplish and we can always have fun doing what we love no matter how hard it gets.

How do you approach writing lyrics for Frozen Soul?
I typically use my life experience and the experiences of the other members of the band to craft the songs. On Glacial I had a lot of help from my other brother Josh Green. He helped me come up with a lot of conceptual ideas and lyrics for songs while we were going through the emotions of our brother Cory’s passing.

Can you talk about a particularly memorable show or tour experience?
I think our most memorable show for me is the first two shows we played, one was a secret show at a small bar called sunshine in Arlington texas we weren’t supposed to play but we wanted to practice for our first official show the next night in Dallas at three links bar with blood incantation and Necrot. after we played we sold out of all of our tapes and the one shirt design we brought and were just selling our other band End Times’ tapes once out. People were coming up to us and asking what city we were playing next and where we were from haha, we had to tell them we weren’t on tour and this was our first official show as a band.

Can you describe the feeling you get when you perform live?
It’s hard to explain really, I’m terrified but the most alive I could ever feel. sometimes I can’t feel my feet and I can’t stop sweating I’m so anxious and nervous but we hit a point where everything just makes sense and I know it’s where I’m supposed to be and then all the fear and the anxiety fades away and there’s nothing but rage and positive aggression!

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out in the music industry?
I would say don’t be afraid to make mistakes and take risks, it’s important when learning what’s right and what’s wrong. support your local scene, make friends, work hard being yourself and not trying to be too much like someone else. Write a demo, make a cool name and have a plan for what your band is and how you want to present yourself. lastly, use your resources wisely and always move forward!

You’re a band from Texas, which has a rich history of producing heavy music. How do you feel that heritage influences your sound?
It’s the only reason we are a band, a lot of people who live in Texas never leave Texas so we get used to looking towards others from our home state as inspiration. We are very fortunate to be able to do this outside of our home!

Can you give us a sneak peek into what’s next for Frozen Soul after the release of Glacial Domination? Thank you!
More records, more touring and playing all over the world, we wont stop and can’t stop so hopefully we see you soon!
