Guitarist/vocalist Adam “Nergal” Darski of Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH spoke to OC Weekly about his forthcoming solo project. “It’s anything but metal but it’s still very dark and different,” Nergal said, referencing non-metal influences such as Neil Young and Johnny Cash. “[The solo album] is semi-acoustic and very stripped down in its instrumentation.

“I’m not expecting BEHEMOTH fans to like it,” he continued. “Some will like it because they are a little open-minded, but I’m doing this because I’m a free artist and I’m free to do whatever I want. That’s what freedom means to me and that’s what being an artist means to me.”

Nergal recently posted two short video clips of what appears to be the studio sessions for his forthcoming acoustic project. Check them out below.

BEHEMOTH is touring North America this spring, featuring MYRKUR as support. BEHEMOTH is playing its latest album, “The Satanist”, in its entirety. In addition to the concert, fans also have the chance to view “The Congregation” exhibition at each venue. Dubbed “a symbiosis of BEHEMOTH and Toxic Vision,” the display showcases the collaboration between the two parties.
