This name is at least strange as on Metal band, don’t you?!? But there’s some very good side of this fact. Our German friend can be sure that he’s and will be the only Metal act with this name worldwide. I have no idea where in Germany live creator of this project. I know that he decided to do it in 2007. But first few years it existed only in his mind, it seems. Finally in 2013 light of day (or dark of night) saw debut album entitled ‘Near Life Experiences’. Then there were another four years of silence and this year new full-length (and a little earlier single which, I guess, promoted it) was released. Anyways, Hysteriis plays in two bands and has another project, so it can be some reason of so long periods of silence.
Name is medical term taken from psychiatry and means an anxiety disorder characterized by recurrent unexpected panic attacks. Panic attacks are sudden periods of intense fear that may include palpitations, sweating, shaking, shortness of breath, numbness, or a feeling that something really bad is going to happen. So, after this definition most of you have probably quite strong hunch what we have to do here with. And yes, this is rather depressive music, maybe even (I’m not an expert on this field) it has something to do with Suicidal Black Metal. I mean, this is as clear as day that this is Black Metal, but I’m not so good in recognizing kinds of it, so…
Tempo is slow, but it’s not very monotonous music as many of you can suppose. This is truth that riffs aren’t sophisticated or even more elaborate (to be honest, they even can be described as quite primitive ones). This is also truth that Hysteriis’ vocalizations are mostly changeless, too. But well, this is important element of music like that, I guess. His desperate, in some way hysteric screams as well as music give desired effect. Something what isn’t monotonous so much is drumming. It’s the same easy like guitar’s play – from time to time there’re some passages. The fact is that they’re like two peas in a pod, but I have impression that they take place s little more often as even minimal changes of riffs.
It’s stuff first of all for true blue fans of depressive kind of B. M. Others (and I’m one of them) can also listen to it and even like it. Buy I suppose that it’ll take place only from time to time – when lust of such music will come.
