Please introduce yourself.
Hello, My name is Mr Galasso Camille and i’m the press officer at Phenix Promotion, of metal band SQUIDHEAD who have released the album “Cult[ist]”.

When your band was created?
Squidhead was born in 2009 in Belgium

What the style do you play?
Lovecraftian Death metal

How could you describe your music by several words?
Using strange masked characters as alter egos, the Squidhead plays a mix of modern death metal with melodic licks and industrial elements on 8 strings guitar.

What is the main theme of your lyrics?
Lyrics and imagery inspired by the horrific universe of the writer HP Lovecraft.

What would you like to achieve with the band activity?
Play on stage, do as much concert as possible.

How many gigs you have played so far and maybe you visit another countries with concerts?
The band being in its infancy, they are currently looking for bookers to play more on stage, so they only played at home (Belgium) for about 10 dates.

Is there anything very important about your band what SHOULD know fans and labels?
Whether it’s costumes, leather, death metal or Lovecraft, Squidhead is for you!

What the formats you would like to see your releases, CD, Vinyl, Tape…? And how do you see future of physical releases?
As a start, we would like to stick to digital and CD releases but of course, we are open to other formats if any demands comes in.

When you will get label deal, would you like to help to the label with promotion from your side, or you want label do all without your help?
We are used to do our part of the job for promotion as we’ve been unsigned so far. So it make total sense to keep it going, even with the help from a label.

What’s your reaction towards negative opinions about your music?
There is always negative opinions about our music. It’s part of the game and it’s an occasion to learn and evolve. And it also means that people heard about us so, it’s still good to know.

And last question, how do you like our webzine, do you have some remarks towards its look or functionality?
The webzine seems very easy to access. I must be honest, I’ve discovered it not so long ago but I’m surprised about the amount of news available. One very good point for me is that the toolbar categories are clear and that there is already a lot of info on the first page (it look a bit like the oldschool Myspace). And also, the website is quick to respond compare to others and that’s another very good point to me.

Squidhead was born somewhere around 2009 in Belgium as an instrumental solo project (with the Painter doing everything from guitars, bass, programming to mix and mastering duties) and become an official act at the end of 2013 to finally release his debut EP “Prohibition” in 2014.

After receiving al lot of positive reviews from more than 50 magazines and webzines around the Globe, the solo act slowly evolved into an actual band with the addition of 2 new members on vocals and Bass. This new entity quickly started to work on their debut album and the new image of the band.

After more than 3 years of writing/composing work and a mix/mastering done by HK Krauss at Vamacara Studio (Clisson) during summer 2017, the band is finally unveiling their first full length album “Cult(ist)” in March 2018.

Using strange masked characters as alter egos, the Squidhead plays a mix of modern death metal with melodic licks and industrial elements on 8 strings guitar, with lyrics and imagery inspired by the horrific universe of the writer HP Lovecraft.

Right now, the band is ready to hit the stages and finally spread his madness among the living.
